This is a substantial, big red wine, deeply pigmented with earthy and jammy cooked fruit aromas. When aerated, it shows notes of baking spices, anise, black licorice and black tea. On the palate our Petite Verdot has substantial fruit tannins and resinous oak.

Sousão (say what?!) is one of the darkest red wine grapes of the Iberian peninsula, commonly used for port production as well as table wines. Sousão was also a 36% component in our proprietary red wine blend Lusitania.
This wine is black in color yet it finishes surprisingly soft on the palate. Enticing aromas of Santa Rosa Plum jam, Black Jack Fig and a hint of cedar and cured tobacco are followed by flavors of plum, fig and mocha.

Vinho Doche translates in Portuguese as “sweet wine”. This is not a late harvest wine, but a luscious multi-vintage, white port-styled wine produced from fermenting Verdelho that was fortified with brandy. Aged in French oak barrels with flavors of apricot, peach and guava, this wine is 16 percent alcohol with 10 grams of residual grape sugar. The low pH helps balance its sweetness. Ken wanted to craft a modern version of the mid Atlantic wines of the island of Madeira. Enjoy as a holiday dessert wine, or it may be paired with savory foods, charcuterie and cheese plates.

Negrette, as its name implies, is a black grape which is seldom grown in California. Negrette's origin remains a matter of debate. It is commonly encountered in the Côtes du Frontonnais wine region, north of the city of Toulouse, in south central France. Negrette produces deeply pigment wines which are surprisingly soft on the palate. Its aromas and flavors are reminiscent of both Pinot Noir and wines of the Côtes du Rhône.

The Lime Kiln Valley once supported an active lime quarry which produced quicklime for much of the mortar used in the construction of San Francisco in the late 1880s. Originally planted in 1895, this head-trained, dry-farmed vineyard continues to flourish today, producing mineral-driven, aromatic wines.
