Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir

Dictated by the Vineyard

Ken Volk is a big believer in selecting great vineyards, cultivating them to create complexity, then letting the wine express the fruit. For Pinot Noir more than any other variety, the style of the wine should be dictated by the vineyard.

Because we produce vineyard designates as well as a principal bottling of Santa Maria Valley Cuvee, we have the opportunity to produce very distinctly different Pinot Noirs within a vintage. Our 2004 Sierra Madre Pinot Noir is floral and delicate whereas our 2004 Garey Vineyard Pinot Noir is more extracted and tannic with bold, dark red fruit.

We are grateful to work with celebrated Pinot Noir vineyards including Bien Nacido, Sierra Madre, Garey, River Bench, Nielsen and Solomon Hills (Santa Maria Valley) as well as Ashley's Vineyard in the recently established Santa Rita Hills AVA. Read more about KVV and Pinot Noir.
